At SCU Services, we take great pride in our work, our employees, and our customer service. From consistent training, quality checks, and refusal to cut corners, we believe that when we do the job right the first time, we are best serving our clients.
Steve Jobs
Brandon Catchen – Operation Manager – Partner/Owner:
Born and raised in Northern Kentucky. Married to my devoted and patient wife Ashley, since 2014. We have two wonderful girls, Darby and Olive.
As a death professional I am looked at for answers. SCU has been that answer to families in their time of sudden need. I love to step into a home, provide accurate answers and service. My hope for SCU is that a family would never have to clean up after a loss of a loved one.
The outdoors is where I go when I have free time; camping, hunting and fishing. I love my local sports FC Cincinnati, Kentucky Wildcats and the Bengals.
I am not a big reader but audiobooks and podcasts have been great for me.
My role is managing the day to day operations. I work with families by being able to help them in any way I can. My roles include project managing, working with insurances and leading our staff in safety protocols.
Eric Northrup – Visionary, Sales, Marketing – Partner/Owner:
Married in 2010 to my one and only beautiful wife, Kristan. Together we have three kids, Sarah, Sadie and Selah; and two dogs, Luna and Bailey.
The ability to provide care and sympathy to a hurting family. I see the value in our service as the family is in the beginning stages of grief. Our mission statement and core values is very important to me on how we lead and operate the business.
I love hiking with family, golfing, and doing crossfit.
A few of my favorites are the Bible, EntreLeadership, E-Myth, Traction, Rich Dad Poor Dad, Atomic Habits, Union with Christ, Master Plan of Evangelism.
I see my role as being the lead Visionary for the company. I love being able to dream, pray, and lead people into something bigger than themselves.
Kim Fields – Operation Manager:
I originally hail from Bristol, Tennessee and am now a permanent transplant to Northern Kentucky. My son, Matthew is living out his dreams in the Big Apple.
These people and their true commitment, passion, and care for serving others. It’s what differentiates SCU from other companies. Most of our clients need guidance, compassion and remedies to help them move forward during extremely difficult and unprecedented events in their lives. The SCU team goes above and beyond to give them peace of mind that we can carry this for them.
I love staying active and being immersed in nature in any way…biking, golf, hiking, boating, or simply relaxing on the patio. I’m always up for adventures/new experiences with friends and may enjoy an adrenaline rush on occasion.
You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay I found to be a really great read. I love all kinds of movies…some stand outs are The Notebook, Man on Fire, City of Angels, and Silence of the Lambs.
My hands will touch on almost every aspect of the company’s daily operations. Helping develop better functionality/efficiency throughout our business practices, while keeping our core values and customer service in the forefront, is the ultimate goal as we continue to grow.
Chris Popp – Assistant Operations Manager and Crew Chief
Born and bred right here in Northern Kentucky, Chris has deep roots in this community. He’s been with his fiancée Olivia for over six years, and together they’re plotting an epic elopement to either Australia or Italy — because ordinary just isn’t their style. He’s also a proud dad to three awesome kids: Aidyn (10), Rylie ( , and Penelope (6), who keep him on his toes and his heart full.
For Chris, SCU was more than just a job — it was a chance to walk away from a place that didn’t value his grit and hustle, and step into a fresh start with a team that does.
When he’s not putting out fires at work, Chris is all about passing on hard-earned skills to his kids, teaching them how to survive and thrive in the great outdoors. And when the house is quiet, you might find him online, laying down some serious Call of Duty strategy.
Chris is a big fan of James Dashner’s Maze Runner series, not just for the high-stakes dystopia, but also the wild behind-the-scenes stories from the movie set. Like how the crew had to clear out 25 venomous snakes before filming, and how actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster actually kept a rock in his shoe to help him limp realistically.
Chris wears a lot of hats and wears them well — serving as Lead Crew Chief. He thrives in the chaos, keeps the crew moving, and makes sure every job gets done right.
John Minor – Office Administrator:
I grew up on a farm in western Kentucky and now call northern Kentucky my home. I enjoy going to church and serving as a middle school basketball coach.
I love how the SCU Team serves others with quality work, sympathy, compassion, and care.
I enjoy hiking, listening to country music, watching sports, and cheering on my favorite teams – Kentucky Wildcats, Reds, Bengals, FC Cincinnati, Nottingham Forest, & Utah Jazz.
Some of my favorite books are the Bible, The Boys in the Boat, Trusting God, and The Chronicles of Narnia.
My role is to assist in back office organization and in daily administrative tasks to help the business run efficiently.
Michael McWhorter – Industry Leader for Indiana
I’m a former homicide detective with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and currently serve as a Deputy Coroner in Hamilton County, Indiana. My professional life has been dedicated to public service, investigations, and supporting families through some of their most difficult moments.
What I love most about SCU is its unwavering commitment to integrity, compassion, and doing the right thing — always. In an industry where people are often at their most vulnerable, SCU stands out by putting families first, delivering consistent, high-quality service without taking advantage of them during difficult times.
In my free time, I love coaching my son in the Special Olympics — it’s one of the most rewarding things I get to be part of. I also enjoy playing disc golf, especially when I can get outside and enjoy some quiet time.
I’m more of a movie person than a reader, and I’ve always been drawn to films that tell powerful, character-driven stories — especially those rooted in justice, leadership, or perseverance. A few of my all-time favorites are Shawshank Redemption, A Few Good Men, Spotlight, The Highwaymen, and The Town. I also really enjoy sports classics like Rudy and Hoosiers, which hit especially close to home here in Indiana.
Business Development Representative – Industry Leader for SCU in Indiana, I serve as the sales leader for the entire state, where my role is to build strong relationships with coroner’s offices, funeral homes, and police departments across Indiana, providing them with expert knowledge about bio-remediation and crime scene cleanup services.

SCU Services started through Brandon Catchen who had been working in his family funeral business for over a decade in Northern Kentucky. Through numerous and various opportunities in working in this field, Brandon saw the importance of his work and how he could be of service to families in times of need.
As knowledge of his expertise grew, grieving families often approached Brandon with assistance to clean up a decomposition, homicides, and/or suicides. Thus, SCU Services was created to be that answer in 2019. We believe that no one should clean up a loved one and have that be someone’s last memory.
SCU started to grow its reputation and quality of services in Northern Kentucky as Brandon continued to work in the Funeral Home during the day and SCU at night.
In Fall of 2021, Brandon and Eric Northrup, an entrepreneur with a knack for growing businesses, started having conversations of what SCU could be not just in Northern Kentucky but expanding into Ohio and Kentucky. Both decided to use their complementary skillsets to dream and grow a business that values people and provides consistent and quality work each and every time.
The vision of SCU Services is to be the best biohazard company in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana plain and simple. While we are certified in a variety of services, we do not heavily promote as we don’t want to detract from our mission. By focusing on this specific niche, we strive to build a trusted brand that police officers, coroners, funeral directors, insurance agents, and the public know and like. Our hope for every customer is to set appropriate expectations, meet those expectations, and go above and beyond the expectations.
